Project: Preserving Traditions through Innovation in Ecotourism
Project Number: 2025-1-BG01-KA122-ADU-000308171
Programme: Erasmus+

Representatives of the Forum for Sustainable Development and Ecotourism – Sarnitsa successfully completed a learning mobility in Finland as part of the Erasmus+ project „Preserving Traditions through Innovation in Ecotourism.“

The mobility provided participants with an opportunity to explore inspiring examples of sustainable tourism, environmental protection, and cultural heritage preservation. Throughout the programme, the group visited natural parks, lakes, forests, traditional Finnish villages, local family businesses, and historical sites, gaining valuable knowledge about how local traditions can be transformed into sustainable tourism experiences.

The participants met with representatives of the host organisation and local stakeholders to exchange ideas and discuss innovative approaches to ecotourism development. They learned how Finnish communities successfully combine environmental conservation, cultural heritage, and local entrepreneurship to create attractive and authentic destinations for visitors.

The programme also included study visits to Helsinki and the historic city of Tallinn, where participants explored examples of heritage conservation, sustainable urban development, and responsible tourism management. These visits demonstrated how history, culture, and nature can work together to strengthen regional development and improve visitors’ experiences.

During the mobility, participants exchanged good practices, discussed future opportunities for international cooperation, and identified innovative ideas that can be adapted to the unique natural and cultural resources of the Sarnitsa region.

The knowledge and experience gained during this learning mobility will contribute to the further development of sustainable tourism in Sarnitsa by promoting responsible travel, preserving local traditions, supporting community involvement, and encouraging environmentally friendly tourism initiatives.

The project highlights the importance of international cooperation within the Erasmus+ Programme, demonstrating how the exchange of experience and best practices contributes to sustainable local development and the preservation of Europe’s rich natural and cultural heritage.
